Seven paintings on what lies beyond the visible: how an inner state takes form, and how form reaches back into the one who looks.

A single precise gesture is allowed to reorganise a whole field.
Angela von Kempe borrows this logic from the acupuncture needle: one exact point, placed with intent, sets an entire surface in motion. In Resonance, small red cross-marks and scattered gold do exactly that.
These works are never complete in a single viewing.
Phosphorescent pigments charge in daylight and keep glowing after the lights go out. The painting exists in two states, and the passage between them is part of the work.
How inner states take form, and how form reaches back into the person who looks at it.
Trained as a neurologist and psychiatrist, Angela von Kempe came to painting as a second language for this question. Inner Landscape answers it with terrain that is remembered rather than seen.
The systems decide where a work begins, not how it ends.
Her starting points often lie outside art: acupuncture points, a date of birth, colour theory from East and West. Impulse reduces them to one vertical line across a deep blue field and leaves the rest to the painting.
Two kinds of order: the field that grows and the structure that intervenes.
Convergence gathers opposing diagonals into a dense centre without resolving their tension. Emergence moves the other way, letting pale and golden forms surface slowly from deep green.
·
Her subject is not a motif but a movement.
From impulse to resonance, from limit to emergence: the selection closes with its widest and most energetic canvas, where resistance itself becomes a creative force.
About the artist
Angela von Kempe’s art grows out of a decades-long career as a neurologist, psychiatrist, and acupuncture specialist, paired with a lifelong passion for visual expression. Her work unites scientific understanding with creative sensitivity to explore what lies beyond the visible—through the language of form, colour, and energy.
The resulting artworks create quiet spaces of reflection and connection. Whether personal or autonomous, each piece invites a subtle dialogue between the mind, the senses, and the unseen.
Seven works, one movement: from impulse to resonance, from limit to emergence.
